The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command has announced the arrest of 110 suspects and the recovery of 520.385 kilograms of illicit substances in May. Mr. Samaila Danmalam, the NDLEA Commander in Kaduna, revealed these details to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna.

Danmalam stated, “In May, our command arrested 110 suspects, including 105 males and five females.” He also noted that the agency seized a variety of illicit substances, including cocaine, Indian hemp, Tramadol, and Methamphetamine, amounting to 520.385 kilograms in total. Additionally, 10 illicit drug joints were dismantled in the state.

The commander further reported that the command secured the conviction of 12 suspects and arraigned 22 others within the month under review.

In its efforts to combat drug abuse in the state, the command carried out numerous drug demand reduction activities, including sensitization programs aimed at educating the public about the dangers of drug use and trafficking. These initiatives also included the counseling and rehabilitation of drug-dependent individuals.

Danmalam appealed to the public to reject illicit drug activities and trafficking and urged citizens to provide useful and timely information to assist the command in fulfilling its mandate in the state.
