Chief of Defence Staff Warns of Possible Action if Protests Escalate
By The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has issued a stern warning regarding the ongoing nationwide protests, stating that the military will intervene if the situation escalates beyond control.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, the CDS emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during the demonstrations. He highlighted the military’s readiness to step in should the protests become violent or pose a significant threat to national security.
The CDS expressed understanding of the citizens’ rights to peaceful protest but reiterated that any deviation from lawful and peaceful conduct would not be tolerated. “While we recognize the democratic right to protest, we will not hesitate to act decisively if the protests escalate and threaten public safety or national security,” he stated.

This statement comes amid growing concerns over the potential for protests to be hijacked by criminal elements, as witnessed during the EndSARS protests in 2020.
