In a decisive move, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of two officers implicated in the alleged manhandling of a female staff member at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, was captured in a viral video showing EFCC officials dressed in plain clothes forcefully entering one of the hotel rooms. The video has since circulated widely on social media, prompting immediate action from the EFCC leadership.

According to the EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the incident occurred during an early morning sting operation aimed at apprehending suspects involved in financial crimes. The operation led to the arrest of several suspects who are currently being profiled.

Uwujaren’s statement reads: “The EFCC’s boss has also ordered detailed investigations of the operation carried out at the hotel and assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against any of the officers found to be culpable. Olukoyede assures the general public that the EFCC would continue to ply its job professionally and with profound respect for the rule of law.”

Mr. Olukoyede’s swift response underscores the EFCC’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards and upholding the rule of law, even among its own ranks. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability and transparency in law enforcement operations.
